The Accessible Materials Specialist will help the Accessibility Strategy & Education team support the mission of the Accessibility Team in School.

The Accessibility Materials Specialist will interact and communicate with internal teams and clients to provide guidance for creating and remediating accessible documentation.

The person hired for this role will report to the Director of Accessibility Strategy and Education and will be responsible for training and facilitating the production of accessible materials and for building internal expertise and capacity to produce accessible documentation.

Major Responsibilities

• Facilitate the production and remediation of accessible, client-facing documentation. For example, but not limited to accessible Word documents, PDFs, PowerPoints, Excel documents, and various training and communication materials.

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is 64k. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program. Education

Bachelor’s Degree in social science, education or related field, or 3-5 years of equivalent work experience Experience

• 3-5 years of experience managing multiple projects

• 3-5 years of experience in adult learning

• 2-3 years of technical writing experience

• 3-5 years of experience creating documents with Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat

• 3-5 years of experience working with people with disabilities

• 2-3 years of experience delivering training to adult learners

Special Knowledge and Skills

• Familiarity with testing document accessibility using screen reading technology, such as JAWS, NVDA, or VoiceOver

• Familiarity with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines

• Functional knowledge of disability categories and the accessible materials and assistive technologies designed to support people with diverse needs

• Understanding of the principles of universal design and universal design for learning
