Job Description Summary
Business Insurance (BI) Analytics & Research Data Engineering team is seeking highly motivated and skilled Data Analytics Engineer to provide the design, development, and delivery of data and analytical solutions in support of a large data scientist team. The Data Analytics Engineer II provides oversight and implementation approaches that benefit business strategic initiatives.
This role will partner with our data scientists on research projects in performing data acquisition, exploration, building pipelines and solutions for statistical models, machine learning, and artificial intelligence from development, through implementation and monitoring. Additionally, they will support the creation of strategic data products in Cloud environments and exploration of new technologies and techniques. Multiple technologies are used, with new approaches emerging quickly in this fast moving and exciting role.
For this role, the candidate should have proficiency with SQL, skilled with Python and cloud experience. Experience with AWS cloud platform is a plus. They should be able to work with different data environments (Snowflake, Teradata, Hive, etc.) and collaborate with multiple teams. The candidate will have a passion for working with data and problem solving.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
You will:
+ Lead development of medium to complex analytic data products, including pilots and proof of concepts.
+ Perform complex data analysis, assessment, and design at an expert level.
+ Provide design and develop data pipelines in python, spark by performing complex data transformations and derivations.
+ Manage the operationalizing, automation of data processes on cloud and on premise to ensure secure, supported and scalable solutions.
+ Provide oversight and establishes data integration patterns, data feature engineering for both on premise and cloud.
+ Mentor small team on data efforts and working with complex (type, quality, volume) and unfamiliar data.
+ Establish team processes and procedures.
+ Present analysis and recommendations to help influence management decisions.
+ Lead investigation and resolution efforts for high impact data defects, issues and implements necessary data cleansing/quality rules.
+ Manage relationships with partner teams to ensure needs are met and impacted areas plan work accordingly.
+ Provide guidance and coaching and helps with career development for team members.
+ Provide requirements, design for the build of strategic data products and is a change champion within team and with customers for consistent adoption of those products.
+ Ensure work complies with Travelers standards, processes, and protocols.
+ Actively seeks opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
+ **Data Culture:**
+ Occasionally present and translate complex information in relevant business terms.
+ Ensure business and data users are properly trained on data products/analytic environment.

+ Execute data strategies with an understanding of enterprise architecture, platforms and application infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications
+ 5 years of relevant experience with data tools, techniques, and manipulation required.
+ 1 years of Leadership experience required.
Education, Technical Skills & Experience
+ College Degree in STEM field
+ Advanced knowledge of data tools, data processing patterns, pipelines and techniques
+ Programming Languages: Python, Spark, SQL, Hive, SAS
+ Cloud Platforms: AWS (Preferred), Azure, GCP
+ Cloud Orchestration & Automation: Jenkins Pipelines, Lambda, Step functions, AutoSys
+ Database: Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server
+ Preferred Skills: DataBricks, Snowflake
+ Visualization platforms: QlikView, Tableau, MicroStrategy and Qlik Sense
+ Experience:
+ 6 years of relevant experience with data tools, techniques, and manipulation preferred.
+ 2 years of leadership experience preferred.
