Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Assessment and Referral, the Assessment Coordinator ensures timely data entry for long term and acute referrals, as well as maintaining the long term program referral data base and ensuring its accuracy. The Assessment Coordinator will also help with day to day organization and coordination of the admissions office, answering calls, documenting and directing the work flow of the calls appropriately.

Skills and Abilities:

Maintain current up to date information in the long term program referral data base and ensure its accuracy at all times. Ability to assess suitability of admission to the hospital and residential programs based on clinical and financial criteria. Good knowledge of common mental illness. Ability to work under stressful circumstances with frequent interruptions. Effective verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with patients, families and referral sources and hospital staff. Knowledge of phone etiquette, ability to work heavy telephone contact and personal contact with patient, families, referrals and hospital staff. Ability to work with team. Excellent customer service skills. Qualifications:
Stable emotional makeup required. Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology or related field - will consider equivalent experience. Additional Mandatory Requirements:
Must be physically capable to receive verbal and written directions
Remains current in Crisis Prevention Intervention Training

Must be willing and able to work with all patients of Methodist Family Health, regardless of gender

Must have good auditory, visual and olfactory ability

Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls

Must be able to maintain effective audio, visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading and writing, and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment

Must be able to use a telephone to communicate verbally and a computer to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data, to see and read characters on a computer screen, chart or other treatment items

Requires the strength and stamina to perform clinical duties

Flu shot is mandatory and required for all positions (subject only to qualified exemptions).
