Position Summary:
The field trainer will provide on the job training to new Division of Children and Family (DCFS) Family Service Workers (FSWs) and supervisors in Northeast Arkansas, DCFS Area 8. This position will be delivering field training in the context of a Safety Organized Practice framework. This includes weekly visits to the worker’s office, correspondence by email and phone, and availability upon request of the worker, the worker’s supervisor, and the Area Director for training purposes. The field trainer will model child welfare best practice. The field trainer will provide advanced practice education upon request. The field trainer may also be asked to engage in coaching activities as it relates to Leadership Academies and be involved in the development and presentation of mandated trainings and requested trainings to DCFS. This position will attend routinely scheduled statewide partnership meetings and Area 8 regional team meetings associated with the Arkansas Academic Partnership in Public Child Welfare. The field trainer will also document all field training activities in SharePoint. This position will perform other duties as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Arkansas Academic Partnership in Public Child Welfare is a sponsored project that focuses on education and training to improve child welfare practice. The partnership objectives are to:
+ develop family-centered child welfare academic curricula and to infuse it into interdisciplinary degree programs statewide
+ recruit and prepare university/college students for employment in the child welfare system administered by the Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services
+ to better prepare child welfare workers and supervisory staff through state-of-the-art service training and by providing a variety of continuing education forums, including but not limited to, one-on-one training (field training and advanced practice training) and classroom style training
+ Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of child maltreatment
• Knowledge of child welfare best practices
• Knowledge of available services and supports for child welfare involved families
• Proficient skills in documenting in a SharePoint or similar platform
• Skilled in coaching and mentoring employees in a group format or one-on-one
• Skilled in presenting training content
• Ability to work as part of a team to execute training
• Ability to successfully engage trainees in a fast paced environment

Minimum Qualifications:
• An earned Bachelor’s Degree in social work, human services, sociology, criminal justice, education, human environment sciences or a related field conferred by the start of employment
• Two (2) years of work experience in the field of child welfare
• One (1) year of providing coaching or training
Preferred Qualifications:
• An earned Master’s Degree in social work or related advanced degree
• Three (3) years of work experience in the field of child welfare
• Two (2) years of experience in conducting one-on-one coaching or training
• Two (2) years of experience in conducting classroom/platform training
• Licensure level at the LCSW, LMSW, PLSW, or other associated social work licensure, or LPC
