Somerset Senior Living at Canyon Springs is looking to add to our team! We are currently seeking resumes for a Certified Dietary Manager. This individual will have a “can do” attitude with a desire to strive for excellence. The Dietary Manager plans, coordinates and manages day to day operations of the facility’s dietary department.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Dietary Department, its programs and activities.
• Ensure dietary staff follow facility and departmental policies and procedures
• Conducting scheduled performance evaluations for each level of dietary personnel as directed.
• Monitor the dietary staff for adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintain a file of tested standard recipes if directed to do so.
• Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Dietitian and/or Administrator as necessary/required concerning the operation of the Dietary Department.
• Inspect food storage rooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
• Process diet changes and new diets as received from nursing services.
• Review departmental complaints and grievances from personnel and make written reports to the Administrator of action(s) taken. Follow facility’s established procedures.
• Assist the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct dietary deficiencies and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for the Dietary department.
• Plan the dietary services portion of the patient’s discharge plan.
• Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies – ensuring the department is always survey ready.
• Interview patients or family members, as necessary, to obtain diet history.
• Participate in maintaining records of the patient’s food likes and dislikes.
• Assist in developing methods for determining quality and quantity of food served.
• Ensure that charted dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the patient’s response to the service.
• Ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Administrator and/or Dietitian.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak the English language
• Must possess Certified Dietary Manager certification
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
• Must be able to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
• Must be able to maintain good personnel relations and employee morale
