Summary

The Area Coordinator provides management support to the Nursing Director of the assigned area(s). The primary role responsibilities include scheduling of staff to meet the department needs, ensuring payroll is prepared for approval by the Nursing Director, ordering supplies based upon needs, and ensuring a safe and well maintained department by conducting environment of care rounds and reporting deficits to the appropriate department and unit leadership team.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Staffing

Collaborates with the unit/department staff, Nursing Director, Nursing Supervisor, and/or other Area Managers regarding flexing staff between units/departments to meet staffing needs.

Develops and maintains unit/department schedules. (May include PTO/Vacation requests, staff rotations, staff preferences, staffing pattern, skill mix.)

2. Business Operations

Participates in managing the unit/department business operations and budget as designated by the Director. (May include HPPD, annual, monthly and biweekly budget.) Participates in the revenue cycle process by managing and validating assigned epic work ques.

Maintains the Payroll System for assigned unit/department.

Reconciles payroll discrepancies.

Complies with AC policies and procedures for maintaining payroll documentation.

Meets the unit/department purchasing needs by researching, ordering and following up on requests.

Practices cost effective use of resources. (staff allocation and assignment, department supplies).

3. Administrative Support

Performs environmental rounds to assess maintenance, equipment and supply needs and provides appropriate followup action.

Provides clerical and administrative support to the Nursing Director as requested, i.e., data entry including trauma registry when needed and council support.

4. Professional Performance

Seeks new challenges and is self-directed in identifying resources/learning activities to enhance competence.

Completes appropriate continuing education related to current practice area and role responsibilities.

Consistently demonstrates that new knowledge and skills gained from education are incorporated into actual practice.

Shares knowledge and expertise with nursing staff and other members of the health care team.

Utilizes available communication tools (e-mail, staff meetings, bulletin boards) to remain informed.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Required - Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma - Field of Study: with emphasis on Business Curriculum , or Or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred - Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Required - 1 years total experience required, which includes 1 year of office management or related experience experience

Preferred - Experience in the health care environment experience preferred

CERTIFICATION / LICENSE / REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

This position has no Certification/License/Registry requirements

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Required - Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Applications.
