The program strives to produce radiographers that are competent in clinical practice and have the confidence to practice the profession in any entry-level radiography clinical setting.

CURRICULUM
In addition to didactic courses, the student receives approximately 1,600 hours of clinical education experience during the 24-month program. Any student that has previously graduated from the St. Vincent School of Radiologic Technology is eligible to obtain college credit for past course work through the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College.

Responsibilities
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
St. Vincent School of Radiologic Technology has established technical standards that must be met by students at this institution. They include the following:
1. Read and apply information to perform daily radiologic procedures.
2. Communicate verbally with patients, physicians and other individuals in related departments.
3. Push mobile x-ray equipment throughout the hospital.
4. Move immobile patients from stretchers to radiographic tables and push and manipulate wheelchairs from waiting rooms to x-ray rooms.
5. Reach all standard radiographic equipment used in daily routine procedures.
6. Understand and apply clinical information from physicians and other health related professionals.

DRUG TESTING REQUIREMENT
After students are selected, enrollment in the program is contingent upon passing a drug screening provided by the School of Radiologic Technology. The screening is provided at no cost to the student through the hospital Employee Health Service. Failure to pass the drug screening will result in withdrawal of the offer of a position in the program.

Qualifications
Retention Requirements
In order to maintain admission and participate in the professional concentration phase of the Radiography Program, students must:
+ Successfully complete all hours of the radiography courses within 150% of the program length (3 years).
+ Earn a grade of C or higher in all professional concentration courses.
STUDENT TIME OFF
+ 10 weeks vacation - total
+ Six holidays annually
+ 10 personal days off during the 2 year program
+ Discount on food purchased in the hospital cafeteria
HOURS
School hours during the first and second year are 40 hours per week. This includes clinical and didactic (classroom) hours. Clinical hours vary depending on clinical assignment. The hospital clinical assignment hours are 7:30-3:30. If assigned to portables, you will begin at 7am. Outpatient clinical hours, at locations such as RAPA and Family Clinic, will vary from 8-4pm and 9-5pm depending on the site. An emergency room rotation, which we classify as a late rotation, may range from10 AM to 6 PM. The majority of radiography exams are ordered and performed in the emergency room during these hours.
