The team

Monitor Institute by Deloitte (MIbD), a consulting team within the Client and Market Growth organization, works with social impact-focused businesses, philanthropies, and nonprofits. The team collaborates with innovative leaders to surface and spread best practices in public problem solving and to pioneer next practices - breakthrough approaches for addressing societal challenges.

Work you'll do

+ Senior Managers are leaders in the practice, serving as a trusted advisor to increasingly senior clients and conducting business development activities

+ Senior Managers provide oversight to project team(s), guiding the development of clear hypotheses, actionable strategic and operational insights, and creation of client deliverables to extend our clients' impact

+ Senior Managers lead MIbD practice initiatives (e.g., Eminence, Learning, Adaptive Strategy, Philanthropy, Corporate Purpose)

Key responsibilities

+ Develop long-term strategic advisor relationships with clients; manage overall client expectations through regular contact

+ Lead multiple client engagements simultaneously, quickly mobilizing teams to deliver meaningful analysis and strategic insights; Collaborate with project leadership and teams to shape the intellectual agenda of projects; Provide feedback on and validate deliverables

+ Establish relationships with the C-suites of leading organizations in the social impact space and serve as trusted advisor

+ Oversee collaborative strategic working sessions and/or convenings with clients, leveraging Monitor Institute IP and methodologies

+ Identify emergent project issues and work with project team leadership and clients in the development of solutions

+ Mentor, coach, and oversee the professional development of project team members and junior practitioners within the Institute

+ Collaborate with and support senior leadership on business development activities including proposal development as well as preparation for and participation in orals presentations

+ Lead internal team initiatives (e.g., methodology development, writing eminence, drafting case studies/quals from project work, etc.) to advance a practice on the cutting edge of social impact strategy within major professional services firm

+ Author and publish thought leadership on cutting-edge issues of social impact, building a profile as a thought leader in a particular issue area(s) within the sector

+ Travel domestically for client service, new business and select Learning & Development opportunities (post-COVID); will be highly variable based on project assignments and related requirements

Qualifications

Required

+ Bachelor's degree

+ 8+ years of prior work experience, including 5+ in a client-facing role (e.g., consulting)

+ Track record of high performance; consultative and strategic mindset; ability to navigate ambiguous circumstances and complex structures

+ Desire to bring an active anti-racist perspective

+ Commitment to bring a DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) lens

+ Deep understanding of social sector issues, including but not limited to education, workforce development, and innovation

+ Knowledge of corporate purpose trends and challenges

+ Understands and values racial equity as an organizational operating principle and is committed to continued learning on issues related to race, equity, diversity and inclusion

+ Strong analytical, research and project management skills

+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

+ Ability to proactively manage multiple workstreams and deliverables simultaneously

+ Ability to manage to aggressive deliverable due dates and workplan

+ Ability to serve as trusted advisor and confidant to senior-level clients

+ Proven leadership and teaming skills

+ Track record of high performance

+ Moderate travel (while up to 50% of travel may be necessary for the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)

+ Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

Preferred

+ Master's degree

+ Social sector experience
