Position Summary & Duties: The Piping Designer position is a long-term contract position working for HGA at a specialty chemical client in the El Dorado, AR area. The position is anticipated to last 2-5 years.
Piping Designer
The Piping Designer performs, reviews, analysis, and design activities in completing complex and unique engineering design projects from general drawings and instructions. Position requires extensive knowledge of engineering design principles and practices. Piping Designer assumes responsibility for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs. Capable of engineering assignments from education and experience background. Works with minimal supervision from a Lead Engineer.

PIPING DESIGNER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Interprets and analyzes general design provided by engineers. Piping Designer prepares detailed design for engineer’s approval. Acting under minimal supervision prepares produces construction drawing packages by providing detailed designs using company standards and drafting techniques. Piping Designer performs design calculations and analysis. Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs. Communicates and works closely with all disciplines. Piping Designer works with vendor drawings. Develops layouts from job scope and vendor information. Checks other designers’ drawings. Piping Designer checks and reviews shop drawings from equipment suppliers. Develops estimates for new work using the scope of work and drawings.

Qualifications:

PIPING DESIGNER EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Technology Training in Drafting and Design from an Accredited School Associate Degree Preferred. Minimum of 10 years’ Experience in Drafting/Design in the Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Chemical Industry is preferred. Ability to utilize Laser Scan Point Clouds and AutoCAD 3D Software. Cad-Worx and Isogen experience preferred. Proficient use of MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS Excel and MS Word. Candidates should be from the El Dorado, AR area.

PIPING DESIGNER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Self-starter Team Player Strong Written and Oral Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Leadership Skills, and Presentation Skills. Customer Service Skills an Asset. Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to delegate and manage time and resources efficiently.
